AIS proudly celebrated its 25th anniversary today, marking a quarter century of innovation, growth and mission-driven impact in the cyber and information security industry.
Founded in 2001 by a team with roots in the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate in Rome, New York, AIS began as a small software company supporting Air Force and Department of Defense cyber technology research. Twenty-five years later, AIS has grown into a nationally recognized cyber and information security company employing approximately 200 people nationwide and delivering advanced capabilities that support government, defense and commercial partners across the globe.
“Over the past 25 years, the cyber and information security landscape has transformed dramatically, and AIS has evolved alongside it,” said Charles Green, CEO of AIS. “What began as a niche technical field has become essential to national security and mission success. Through every change, AIS has remained focused on innovation with purpose and delivering trusted solutions that make a real-world impact for our customers and the warfighters who rely on them.”

Throughout its history, AIS has continued to adapt to the rapidly evolving cyber domain while remaining committed to its mission of creating a secure future for its customers, employees and communities. In recent years, the company has achieved significant milestones, including earning its 25th patent, securing major contract awards such as EVEREST, OASIS+ and MDA SHIELD, attaining Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 and expanding strategic partnerships that accelerate innovation and workforce development.
As part of the company’s anniversary celebration at AIS Headquarters in Rome, employees gathered not only to commemorate the company’s history but also to give back to the community that has supported AIS for the past 25 years.
The morning portion of the anniversary event featured a community charity initiative benefiting Rome Humane Society, Feed Our Vets and United Way of the Mohawk Valley. AIS employees collected donations and essential items for each organization, and AIS proudly presented each nonprofit with a $2,000 contribution in recognition of their impact throughout the region.

“Giving back to the community has always been an important part of who we are as a company,” Green said. “Rome and the Mohawk Valley have played an important role in our success over the last 25 years. This anniversary is not only an opportunity to reflect on where we’ve been, but also to recognize the people and organizations around us that help make the region a great place to live, work and grow.”
AIS has long prioritized community engagement alongside its mission work, supporting initiatives including blood drives with the American Red Cross, youth STEM and drone education programs, food and toy drives, veteran support initiatives and partnerships with regional educational institutions and nonprofit organizations.
As AIS looks toward the future, the company remains focused on delivering speed, agility and measurable mission impact in support of national security and emerging cyber challenges.
“There is no greater reward than seeing technologies developed at AIS making a difference in the field and helping protect those who serve,” Green said. “As we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on the future – continuing to innovate, adapt and deliver capabilities that protect and advance national security while investing in the people, partnerships and communities that will shape the next 25 years.”
