Heidi Maines

Heidi has been a runner since her freshman year of high school. Today, she is a long-distance competitor and a finisher of the Syracuse Half Marathon, her first 13.1-mile race. She finished in 2:06:48.
“Typically, running is my outlet when I find the time but for this race, I trained six days a week,” said Heidi. “I ran on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and I would cross-train on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sundays were my resting days. On average, I’ve run about 20 to 25 miles each week and yoga has become my best friend.”

Jeremy Painter

Jeremy has a love for music and it shows if you have ever seen his acoustic duo, Real Imposters. With Jeremy on the keyboard and his friend Bill playing guitar, they share the spotlight with their vocals.
“We pride ourselves on our variety, which differentiates us from other local acoustics acts,” said Jeremy. “You’ll hear familiar songs like Billy Joel, Dave Matthews, Blondie and Tears for Fear, but you’ll also hear great songs from bands you might not know like Lumineers, Radiohead, Fun and Death Cab for Cutie. We really enjoy the opportunity to play at a variety of local venues.”

Richard Cook

Richard took a dramatic look at his health after receiving news from his VA physician that he had extremely high cholesterol and needed to act immediately.
“When I looked online to research my cholesterol level, it basically said to prepare a will,” said Richard. “On that day I quit drinking alcohol and the next day I quit smoking, which was the 36th time I’d quit. Three weeks later I adopted a completely plant-based diet. I am now at almost two years with no alcohol, no cigarettes and no animal products. Today, I feel like I’m back in my twenties. My cholesterol is at a very healthy level and I’ve set an all-time personal record for my 5K time.”

Maurice Gale

Maurice has been playing chess since he was seven years old. He was taught by his elementary school teacher and has since competed and won several championships dating all the way back to the third grade.
“Chess helps me to remain focused and calculate risk and reward with every decision that I make,” said Maurice. “These are strategies that have also become imperative to the realization of my aspirations and life goals.”

Krissy Sanders

Krissy began pursuing her MBA at Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management in October of 2019.
“I’ve wanted to return to school for years but did not want to take on student loan debt again after paying off my loans from my bachelor’s degree,” said Krissy. “AIS has provided me with a great place to work and allowed me to further my education without financial stress. With my MBA, I intend to grow my network, knowledge and skill-set to align with my goals of getting to the next step of my career.”

Brodie Davis

Brodie is no stranger to racing as he raced motocross for several years when he was younger. Today, with much influence from his co-worker and friend Levi Arthur, Research Computer Engineer, he races a 1989 Chevy S10 in the Lite Truck class and has been doing so for a year and a half. Next year, Brodie intends to race a late model at Evan Mills Raceway Park for Arthur’s race team.
“The best part of racing for me is getting to push a car to its limit,” said Brodie. “My dad once told me that racing is just a controlled crash. A large part of racing is also getting to spend time with friends, not only at the track but working on the car week to week getting ready for Saturday night.”
