Who We Are

Our History

AIS was founded in 2001 as a software company focused on research of critical Air Force and DoD cyber technology requirements. AIS personnel staffed and operated the Adversarial Sciences Laboratory within the Information Warfare Branch, Air Force Research Laboratory, Information Directorate, Rome, NY, pursuing all aspects of cyber operations.

Over the ensuing years, AIS grew to become a leader in this highly dynamic and emerging technology, supporting varied customers across the federal government. By the end of 2005, AIS had operating locations in New York and Oregon. In January 2006, AIS took occupancy of new research facilities in Rome, NY, and continues to staff new locations near key customers in Dayton, Ohio, Baltimore, Maryland, and San Antonio, Texas.

Through AIS’s affiliation with the military, AIS has nurtured unique relationships with a broad customer base, and has contributed significantly to national cyber requirements. Equally important, AIS has built strong collaborations with other defense contractors and more than a dozen highly regarded universities.

As a growing small business, AIS continues to build its team and management processes around technical leadership, responsiveness, and agility.

AIS’s founding principles stem from a vision to be creators and defenders of a secure cyberspace where citizens have the safety and security to operate and conduct business with confidence and efficiency. As a result, AIS strives for excellence in all it does, with a sound commitment to its staff, who are the significant contributing factor to AIS growth and national recognition.

Our Mission

The AIS mission is to define and develop “generation-after-next” concepts and capabilities to support its commitment to defend cyberspace.

AIS pursues this mission with research and development of technologies relevant to deterring deliberate threats and attacks on the United States information infrastructure. AIS focuses on the development of technologies that support the disciplines of Information Operations (IO), signals intelligence (SIGINT), and all phases of Computer Network Operations (CNO).

Our People

The AIS staff is our most valuable asset. Most employees are technical professionals who have, or are pursuing, advanced degrees in such disciplines as computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, software engineering, electrical engineering, and operations research. Nearly all employees hold collateral security clearances, and most of the technical staff and contracting staff hold TS/SCI clearances.

Researchers at AIS have many opportunities to work a diverse range of exceptionally challenging problems, and are routinely encouraged to define new research programs that align with their personal interests.
